The first two deals you need to know about have a deadline.

Now, through February 19, 2018, the Auto Show cash available in West Michigan. The Auto Show rebate is up to $3,000 on select GM vehicles!

Let’s break the Auto Show cash down: $1,000 on the 2017 and 2018 Buick Enclave and Encore; $3,000 on the 2017 and 2018 Lacrosse; $1,500 on GMC Sierra 1500; and $1,000 on the 2018 GMC Terrain. The kicker is…the purchaser has to reside in West Michigan with a West Michigan zip code to get the cash.

Learn more about the Auto Show in Grand Rapids happening this weekend!

Next, the Buick GMC Fast Start Program runs now through February 12, 2018. The Fast Start Program features Zero Percent for 72 months, plus a $1500 rebate on both 2017 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL models. There is also a Zero Percent for 72 month offer on 2018 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL models!

The Fast Start Program also includes an extra $1000 bonus cash on all 2018 GMC Sierra Crew Cab models, including SLE, SLT and Denali trim levels.

Speaking of trucks, while the lease rebates are the same as they were last month (and they’re pretty good), there is a $1,000 Down Payment Assistance offer on 2017 and 2018 GMC Sierra models for qualified buyers financing with GM Financial.

I haven’t even touched on the most exciting deals yet.

First, you’ve got to know about the insanely huge rebates on 2017 Buick Regal and the Buick Lacrosse models. You can’t lease a 2017 Buick, effective Feb. 1, but you can probably buy one for a cheaper payment!

On a 2017 Buick Lacrosse, anyone can walk in  the door and get $5,000 off. Don’t forget the Auto Show Bonus through Feb. 19, adding another $3,000 off! AND, these rebates are stackable with the GM Employee and GM Supplier discounts! Plus, there’s GM Lease Loyalty purchase rebate of $2,000! (I haven’t even mentioned the Todd Wenzel Trade Bonus Cash which can help save you up to 40% off the price of the vehicle)!

Then, there’s the $7,000 rebate on the 2017 Buick Regal to talk about. Holy Moly! Again, this rebate is stackable with all GM discounts and also offers $2,000 purchase rebate for GM Lease Loyalty.

Are you tired yet? Doesn’t matter, because there’s more.

Both the 2017 and 2018 Buick Envision are 18% off off this month! Or, buyers can choose the Zero for 72 Month option, which includes a $2,000 Down Payment Assistance offer with GM Financial.

Now let’s talk GMC.

The All-new 2018 GMC Terrain has a $3,250 rebate, plus $1,000 Auto Show cash, plus $2,000 if you have a current GM Lease and $750 Down Payment Assistance if you finance with GM Financial. If you want to lease a Terrain, the rebate got $600 better from last month.

The 2018 GMC Acadia includes a Zero for 72 Month option, with $2,000 Down Payment Assitance OR $5,750 Customer Cash, plus $2,500 Lease Loyalty Rebate.

On the purchase of a 2017 GMC Canyon, buyers get a $750 rebate, plus $2,000 Lease Loyalty Rebate. On the 2018 GMC Canyon there is a $2,000 Trade Assist bonus.

Finally, don’t miss out on Todd Wenzel’s Trade Sale – Get $5,000, minus reconditioning, on your 2000 or newer vehicle or $5,000 above KBB fair trade value, minus reconditioning.

Chevy 2-Year Complete Care: Friends Don’t Let Friends Pay for Oil Changes

Sylvia Dana, sales consultant at Berger Chevrolet in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Sylvia Dana, sales consultant at Berger Chevrolet in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Don’t you hate it when your friends don’t listen to you? I do! Especially, when the information you share is helpful to them.

I visited my best friend Stacey in Traverse City recently. Heading to a yoga class Sunday morning, we rode in her 2015 Chevy Cruze LS she leased from me last summer.

I noticed the “Change Oil Soon” alert on her DIC (Driver Information Center) screen, driving into town. I’m like… “Stacey, I’ve never seen this alert come up before. I wonder how much oil you actually have left.” I reached over from the passenger seat to scroll through her DIC menu. She had 18K+ miles on the car. And the remaining oil life? ZERO! She literally had 0 percent remaining oil life!

I said, “Stacey, you can’t be driving this car without any oil!” She retorted that she’s been busy, plus oil changes are expensive; it cost $50 the previous two times she took the Cruze to her mechanic, she told me. “What?!” I gasped! “Stacey, you have a brand new leased Chevrolet. Your only mechanic is a GM dealer and your oil changes are free! The Chevy dealer will shuttle you to work and back so they can do the oil change while you’re at work. I told you this so many times!”

How could this happen? My best friend — a busy single mom — who I really wanted to make sure she took advantage of her new car free perks — had payed for her last two oil changes. Despite the fact that I told her several times about the free scheduled maintenance — in person, at delivery, over the phone, via text and email and even in snail mail. Still, she had somehow missed the part where she gets free oil changes.

It makes me wonder…If my own friends aren’t listening to me about their free scheduled maintenance, how are my other customers are handling their vehicle’s service needs?

So please, let me remind youChevrolet 2-Year Scheduled Maintenance coverage is included with the purchase or lease of new 2014 and newer Chevrolet models.

Chevrolet 2-Year Scheduled Maintenance includes only the following:

  • 2-year/24,000-mile Scheduled Maintenance (whichever comes first; up to a total of two service events for ’16 models, or 4 service events for ’14 and ’15 models):
  • ACDelco dexos1®Oil and ACDelco Oil Filter Change (excludes Spark EV)
  • 4-wheel Tire Rotation (excludes dual rear wheel vehicles, all Corvette models and select Camaro models – ZL1 model and 1LE package cars – due to their unidirectional tires; see Owner’s Manual for details)
  • 27-Point Vehicle Inspection (MPVI)

It’s also worth noting that a new Chevrolet comes with the free 5 Years Roadside Assistance Program

Chevrolet is proud to offer the response, security and convenience of the 24-Hour Roadside Assistance Program. Roadside Assistance is provided with all purchased or leased GM vehicles that are within the Powertrain Limited Warranty (5 years/100K miles on ’14 and ’15 models or 5 yeasr/60K miles on ’16 models).

  • Emergency Towing (from a public road or highway to nearest Chevrolet dealer)
  • Lockout Service (keys locked inside vehicle)
  • Flat Tire Changes (service to change a flat tire with the spare tire (if equipped))
  • Fuel Delivery (enough fuel for vehicle to get to the nearest service station)
  • Jump-Starts (service to jumpstart a dead battery

Contact a Chevrolet Roadside Assistance Program advisor at 1-800-243-8872 OR push the blue Onstar Button and say “Roadside.” (Even if your Onstar trial is over or your Onstar account is inactive, you can still call Roadside this way.)

How to Use GM Credit Card Earnings Towards Purchase or Lease of New Chevrolet

Sylvia Dana, sales consultant at Berger Chevrolet in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Sylvia Dana, sales consultant at Berger Chevrolet in Grand Rapids, Mich.

I received a call today from a gentleman with a great question: “Can I use my GM World credit card earnings with the GM Employee Discount?”

The answer is “no.” The only GM formula pricing stack-able with the GM World or GM Buy Power cards are the Military and College discounts, which both offer GM Supplier pricing (as of this original post date).

I’m hearing a lot about GM card earnings this month because the BuyPower Card has sent out a private mailer, offering a $1000 top-off on earnings through early June.

Be aware — some GM sales people and GM sales managers don’t realize the GM BuyPower card CAN be used with the GM Military discount and GM College discount as described on the BuyPower Card FAQs page.

Years ago, the GM World card, a.k.a BuyPower card, earnings could be used with the GM Employee Discount as well. Be assured this is no longer the case . If you are eligible for GM Employee pricing, be advised there is only one GM credit card eligible to combine its earnings with the GM Employee Discount — the GM Extended Family card.

GM card earnings can be applied to both purchases and leases.

2015 Volt Lease Options Spark Interest

You’ve heard all the rage about the Chevrolet Volt. Now might be the time to pull the trigger on a 2015 Chevy Volt. Read the Edmunds review about the 2015 Chevrolet Volt.

October is the last month for supported lease offers on 2015 models. Right now, GM Financial is offering a $254, 39-month lease, 10K miles a year, with zero down on a Volt priced around $35K. This offer is with the GM Lease Loyalty discount. With the competitive lease private offer, the same terms would cost $228 a month.

For purchase, buyers can choose from 0 percent APR, plus $1,500 bonus cash or $2,500 bonus cash.

At Berger Chevy, we have about five 2015 Volt models left on the lot. The 2016 Chevrolet Volt will be limited to specific markets friendly to plug-in cars. The 2017 Volt will be the next real opportunity to get into a Chevy.

How to Get the GM Employee Discount

Updated Oct. 2, 2015

I love discounts! Don’t you? Everyone wants a discount. And when it comes to leasing or purchasing a new Chevrolet, I help my customers find every GM discount they can possibly qualify for at Berger Chevrolet. The biggest discount you can get on a new Chevrolet vehicle is the GM Employee Discount. The second biggest discount is the GM Supplier Discount. What’s even more exciting is that either of these generous discounts can be combined with current factory rebates and incentives.

Contact me to learn more

How do you know if you qualify for the GM Employee Discount? Answer this question: Do you have a family member that works for General Motors or is a GM retiree, perhaps an uncle or a sister-in-law? Maybe your deceased grandfather? If so, does he have a surviving spouse?

If the answer to the question is “Yes” then great! You can get the GM Family Discount. However, you will need to provide what’s called a “GMS authorization number” before taking delivery of your vehicle. Your family member can visit gmfamilyfirst.com to obtain this number. You, the purchaser, will need to provide your family member with your date of birth and zip code to generate the code. Codes are valid up to six months.

If you don’t have anyone in your family who can obtain a GMS authorization number for you, perhaps you have a friend or acquaintance who is a GM Employee or Retiree who will give you the GM Supplier Discount for Friends. The GM Supplier Discount is the second best discount you can get from GM. Its discount code is known as a GSF authorization number, which can also be obtained at gmfamilyfirst.com.

Finally, if you don’t know an Eligible Participant in GM’s Vehicle Purchase Program, maybe you qualify for the GM Supplier Discount through your own place of employment. There are hundreds of GM Supplier companies, from parts manufacturers to food services to health organizations. Find out if your company is eligible for the GM Supplier Discount. To obtain a GSP authorization code, create an account at gmsupplierdiscount.com.

If all else fails, fear not. There are other types of discounts you can get on the purchase or lease of your new GM vehicle. These include the Military, Educator and College discounts — to name a few. See most recent updates to GM discount programs.

Still, the Employee discount and the Supplier discount can definitely offer the most savings. A GM vehicle invoice includes three prices. Based on the model, GM Employee and Supplier discounts are a percentage, based on the selected model. As an example, let’s look at a 2015 Malibu 1LT, with a power sliding sunroof and convenience features, such as rear camera, remote start and universal home remote:

MSRP – $26,860

GM Supplier Price – $25,656.55

GM Employee Price – $24,669.29

Who is Eligible to Give the GM Employee Discount and GM Supplier Discount?

Active employees of General Motors (not a supplier of GM) are eligible participants for GM’s Vehicle Purchase Program. Non-active employees must meet one of the following requirements: currently receiving GM pension or healthcare plan; vested in a GM pension; or if hired after 2001, worked for GM for a minimum of 5 years.

In addition, employees of GM Suppliers can share their discount with one other person within one year of using their discount themselves within one year.

What if the Eligible GM Employee is deceased?

Surviving spouses of GM employees become the eligible participant if they are currently receiving a GM pension or healthcare plan. New surviving spouses of retired UAW members receiving healthcare, but not a GM pension, are not eligible. If both the employee or retiree and the surviving spouse are deceased, their children might qualify for the GM Legacy Discount Program.

Who Qualifies to Receive the GM Family Discount?

Eligible participants are able to sponsor their spouses, children, grandchildren, parents, stepparents, grandparents (including in-law and step), siblings (including full, half and step), stepchildren, stepgrandchildren, mother-/father-in-law, sons-/ daughters-in-law, brothers-/sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Same-sex domestic partners (SSDPs) of eligible participants also qualify, where applicable. (Note: Eligible SSDPs are treated the same as spouses and, therefore, their eligible family members are also included.)

Please note: Individuals who are employed by a state or federal organization may not be sponsored as purchaser/lessee due to relevant government rules.  See the complete GM Discount Rules.

How School Employees Can Get a GM Discount

Updated: October 2, 2015

General Motors is giving all School Employees a discount equivalent to GM Supplier Pricing on the purchase or lease of a new Chevrolet!

The GM Educator Discount is offered to the entire education community, including current employees of a public school, private school, college or university. This program provides the same price GM suppliers receive on the purchase or lease of a new Chevrolet. Plus, participants can combine this discount with most current offers to save even more.

To take advantage of this opportunity, participants must create an account at GMeducatordiscount.com. Once logged in to the site, you can request an authorization number for the purchase or lease of a new Chevrolet. You may request up to two authorizations for up to (2) vehicles. GM Educator Discount authorization numbers are valid through Sept. 30, 2015.

Simply take your authorization number and a recent pay stub or ID badge from your school to your GM Dealer when you are ready to purchase or lease.

See program details at gmeducatordiscount.com for more information. Or contact Sylvia at Berger Chevrolet in Grand Rapids, Michigan, 616-575-9624.

How To Qualify for the GM Recall Discount

Do you own a Pontiac, Saturn or older Chevrolet? If so, you might qualify for GM Employee Pricing on the purchase or lease of a new Chevrolet! It’s called the GM Recall Discount and, just like the GM Employee Discount, it’s the best discount you can receive on a GM vehicle. To sweeten the deal, you can use this discount on top of all factory rebates and some manufacturer incentives. General Motors is keeping the GM Recall Discount offer on the down low, and it’s only available for a limited time. So, here’s the scoop:

Usually, only family members of a GM Employee or Retiree can take advantage of the Employee Vehicle Purchase Program. But now through Jan. 5, 2015, General Motors is offering special Employee Pricing on the purchase or lease of 2014-2015 vehicles to people who own one of the following:

  • 2005-2010 Cobalt
  • 2006-2011 HHR
  • 2007-2010 Pontiac G5
  • 2007-2010 Saturn Sky
  • 2003-2007 Saturn Ion
  • 2006-2010 Pontiac Solstice

All you need is a current registration or title* of one of the qualifying GM recall vehicles list above in order to receive the GM Recall Discount (a.k.a. discount code LDN). You don’t have to trade in the qualifying vehicle to receive the discount. *If the registration does not show your name, then you must also provide proof of insurance, with your name on it, for the qualifying VIN.

In addition, these owners can also use GM Card points on top of this offer. Or, these owners can use a $500 discount offer on Certified Pre-Owned Chevy models.

For more information, please contact Sylvia at Berger Chevrolet in Grand Rapids, Michigan, 616-575-9624.
